About the BA Music Production course
The BA Music Production course aims to equip the modern musician with the tools for success in professional recording and music production.
The University Centre’s state-of-the-art facilities, including four industry-standard Pro Tools HD recording studios, will prepare any promising recording engineer or producer for a career in music production.
The professionally equipped studios are based around the latest Apple Mac computers, Mackie and Genelec monitoring and Avid Control 24 control surfaces.
You will be able to use Focusrite preamps and studio-quality instruments such as TAMA and Sonor drums kits, Marshall, Orange and Blackstar amplification, to capture that that perfect sound.
To complement the recording studio hardware, there is a comprehensive range of microphones including Shure, AKG, Sennheiser and Neumann.
Each recording studio includes separate control and live rooms of various sizes to accommodate any style of music, with a specialist technician team on hand to guide students.
The highly-qualified academic team of active musicians will also help every step of the way, with one-to-one tutorials and a sensible and relaxed attitude to studio time and lecturer access.
You have the opportunity for further development by studying for the Avid Pro Tools 101 course, as well as managing the in-house White Box record label.
English and Maths GCSE (or equivalent): grade C/4 or above.
Students lacking formal academic qualifications also encouraged to apply. They will be set a short essay and informal audition and/or showcase of production work and a judgement made taking into account their academic potential and relevant experience.
